The department of pathology THQ Hospital Hazro is a well-established and well equipped department and optimum temperature for all equipment commensurate to the clinical services provided by THQ Hospital Hazro and consists of 03 sections which are working in 02 shifts as detailed below.

Sample Identification
- Label an appropriate container
- Reception staff notes patient’s Medical Registration number and required investigations in lab collection register
- Patient reports to reception desk with physician/surgeon’s advice

Handling of Sample
- Only the trained technician handles the specimens
- All specimen should be dealt as infectious material
- The broken specimen should not be touched
- The leaking specimen containers should not be touched

Transportation of Samples
- Absorbent material is placed in a transport container
- Samples are placed upright
- Samples are not left unattended
- Patient confidentiality is preserved
- Specimen data forms and identification data should accompany each transport box
- Labelled appropriately consistent with its contents

- Collect proper amount of specimen
- Minimum possible blood should be used in critical cases
